Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung held another limited meeting at the district level on Thursday (11/5). This time, the meeting was held in Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.
Various urban problems ranging from the Gini ratio, flooding, public infrastructure development, and educational facilities emerged in this meeting.
Discuss several issues that are problematic
"We specifically discuss several issues that are problematic at the district level," said Pramono.
Pramono explained that Tanah Abang District is one of the areas with high levels of social inequality. This is due to the large number of high-income residents and vulnerable groups within the same area.
"This place really needs extra attention from the Jakarta Government," he added.
Regarding flood control due to the Krukut River overflow, Pramono decided to install sheet piles and parapets, as well as procure mobile water pumps. Furthermore, the relevant agencies will continue dredging sediment and repairing micro-channels.
Pramono also received community aspirations regarding pedestrian needs on Jalan Kampung Bali, which is not very wide.
"If a pedestrian is built, the pedestrian will be over the river. And for that, I don't agree," he continued.
The governor will first inspect the area before deciding whether to build a pedestrian walkway. One option is to narrow the road and convert it into a single lane.
Meanwhile, regarding the needs of public junior high schools in Tanah Abang District, Pramono decided to integrate SDN Petamburan 05 and 07 covering an area of 5,000 square meters with the surrounding state junior high school which covers an area of 1,900 square meters.
"I asked for it to be included in the 2027 budget year and I hope it will be completed either in 2028 or at the latest 2029," he said.
Responding to the request for free private schools in the area, Pramono said that currently the Jakarta Provincial Government together with the City Council are finalizing the addition of free schools.
"I have agreed to a significant increase in the amount," he added.
The meeting also discussed the development of the Tanah Abang area, including issues such as thuggery, illegal parking, and drug distribution. The Governor stated that he has instructed the Transportation Agency, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Pasar Jaya, and Sarana Jaya to coordinate the development in stages.
"We're organizing this gradually. The most important thing is that people's lives start to improve and that they don't lose their income," he stated.
Head of Tanah Abang District, Dwiarti Indriani Utami explained that the district officials will take a holistic approach to resolving the problem of thuggery and carrying out restructuring in Tanah Abang.
"Holistic planning will be carried out to identify what problems need to be resolved, one of which is thuggery," she explained.
