The Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency deployed two Bronto Skylifts to evacuate residents from the upper floors of Pavilion Apartment on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang, on Friday (9/4).

Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency Operations Section Head Z. Triyanto said those rescued were treated by the Tanah Abang Sub-district Community Health Center and Central Jakarta PMI teams.

"Most of them suffered shortness of breath after inhaling thick black smoke for too long," he noted.

Triyanto said his team received the fire report at around 11:23 AM, and began handling the fire at around 11:30 AM.

As of the afternoon, firefighters were still carrying out cooling operations to prevent the fire from reigniting.

"We deployed 28 fire trucks and 128 personnel to extinguish the fire," he explained.

Based on information from the scene, Triyanto said the fire was suspected to have originated in an electrical panel room on the fifth floor of the apartment building.
