PT MRT Jakarta is set to implement significant traffic diversions in the Phase 2A CP203 construction zone starting August 10, 2026. This move is a critical part of the ongoing construction phase for the capital's massive infrastructure project.

The MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP203 project focuses on the development of the Glodok and Kota Underground Stations. The work includes a 690-meter tunnel with a total track length of approximately 1.4 kilometers, stretching from Mangga Besar to Kota area.

PT MRT Jakarta's Corporate Secretary Division Head, Rendy Primartantyo stated that the agency, along with the contractor Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company-Hutama Karya Joint Operation (SMCC–HK JO), has been implementing phased traffic management since April 2021.

"This diversion will officially begin on August 10, 2026. We're working in close coordination with the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate to ensure smooth implementation,” he explained, Friday (8/7).

Detailed Traffic Diversion Plan:

A. Glodok Station Construction Area

To facilitate the construction of the west and east entrances, Stage 4 Traffic Management will be implemented in three sub-phases:

1. Phase 4.1 (Aug 10 – Sept 9, 2026):

Two-way traffic previously on Jalan Gajah Mada will be diverted to Jalan Hayam Wuruk via a partial contraflow. One northbound lane on Jalan Gajah Mada will remain open. A dedicated lane on the west side of Jalan Gajah Mada is reserved for small vehicles of residents and visitors of the Jalan Kemurnian IV and VI areas.

2. Phase 4.2 (Sept 10 – Oct 9, 2026):

The traffic pattern remains the same as Phase 4.1. However, direct access from Jalan Kemurnian VI to Jalan Gajah Mada will be temporarily closed. Residents and visitors can still access the area through a lane in front of the Hotel Novotel north gate.

3. Phase 4.3 (Oct 10, 2026 – May 17, 2027):

Jalan Hayam Wuruk continues as the primary route, with one northbound lane maintained on Jalan Gajah Mada. Access from Jalan Kemurnian VI to Jalan Gajah Mada will reopen, while direct access from the Novotel north gate to Jalan Gajah Mada will be temporarily closed.

B. Kota Station Construction Area

Stage 8 (Aug 10, 2026 – Jan 15, 2027):

This phase supports the construction of an underground passageway connecting Kota Station to the north entrance.

A. Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan:

• Northbound (toward Kota Tua): Vehicles will use the west side of Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan.

• Southbound (toward Mangga Besar): Vehicles will enter the west side, shift to the east side, and exit back through the west side.

• Reserved Lanes: One lane in each direction is strictly reserved for Transjakarta buses, residents, and local shop visitors. In case of heavy congestion, especially on Jalan Pancoran, traffic may be opened to all vehicles situationally.

B. Asemka Intersection:

The center of the intersection will be utilized for construction.

• North-South Flow: Traffic between Jalan Pintu Besar Utara and Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan will be diverted to the west side of the work area, maintaining one lane for each direction.

• Jalan Asemka (West): Lanes will narrow to two in each direction at the intersection.

• Jalan Jembatan Batu (East): Three lanes remain open. Drivers turning right toward Kota Tua should stay in the far-right lane, while those going straight or turning left may use the remaining two lanes.
