The Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency deployed 30 blue troop personnel and two heavy equipment for emergency response to the landslide on the banks of the West Flood Canal (KBB), Jalan Administrasi Negara I RT 01/RW 07, Bendungan Hilir, Tanah Abang.

Head of the Drainage Maintenance Section of the Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency, Citrin Indriati, said that the 60-meter landslide at this location occurred due to river abrasion.

Prevent landslides from spreadin

"The landslide location is at the meeting point of the Krukut and KBB rivers," she said, Tuesday (6/30).

Emergency response was carried out by installing a cerucuk combined with tiered river stone gabions on the south side of the KBB riverbank.

"This is to prevent landslides from spreading to residential areas," she added.

She targets that emergency handling of the collapsed KBB retaining wall will be completed this week.

Meanwhile, long-term, permanent handling will involve building sheet piles along the collapsed retaining wall area.

"The construction of sheet piles is the responsibility of the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Center (BBWSCC) which is coordinated through the Jakarta Water Resources Agency," she explained.

She also appealed to residents not to build buildings on riverbanks, to avoid the risk of abrasion.
