The Jakarta administration aims to expand access to decent housing in the capital, starting with the construction of 11 residential towers next year.

Governor Pramono Anung stated that this initiative is a response to the city’s housing crisis, characterized by land shortage and high residential costs.

I approved the development of 11 large-scale residential towers for next year

"During today's budget meeting, I approved the development of 11 large-scale residential towers for next year,” he remarked, at Aryaduta Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (6/25).

By so, he wants the public to have easy and transparent access to housing. The provision of public housing will serve as a solution to Jakarta's settlement issues.

"Since it’s virtually impossible for people in Jakarta to own land unless they are wealthy enough for landed property, vertical housing is the key solution for this," he explained.

Amidst the current economic conditions, the Jakarta administration continues to provide training for street vendors to improve their welfare.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that many people from various regions are still interested in trying their luck in Jakarta. He emphasized that Jakarta remains open to anyone who wishes to work.

Yet, he urged that newcomers should be skilled and observe public regulations.

"Jakarta is an open city; anyone can come and try their hand at business here. But above all, they mustn't create public disturbances. That is the most critical point," Pramono stated firmly.
