The Jakarta Provincial Government has reaffirmed its support for the 2026 Safe Migrant National Movement initiated by the Ministry of Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection (KP2MI/BP2MI).
Commitment to supporting a safe, legal, and well-protected migrant worker placement ecosystem
The program is a follow-up to the Ministerial Decree on the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers No. 755/2026 concerning the Safe Migrant National Movement.
Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy (Nakertransgi) Agency Head Syaripudin said the administration has routinely implemented various migrant worker protection programs each year.
According to him, one of the initiatives includes disseminating information on migrant worker protection to sub-district and urban village administrations as the frontline for collecting data on prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI).
In addition, the Jakarta Nakertransgi Agency also provides overseas-oriented job training programs through Regional Job Training Centers (PPKD). The training covers skills needed in the international labor market.
"PPKD centers under the Jakarta Nakertransgi Agency offer overseas-oriented training programs such as Japanese language, barista, and caregiver courses," he highlighted, Thursday (5/21).
Launched on May 18, 2026, the Safe Migrant National Movement aims to strengthen protection for prospective Indonesian migrant workers, migrant workers, former migrant workers, and their families from the risks of non-procedural placement, rights violations, exploitation, and human trafficking.
As part of the program's implementation, KP2MI/BP2MI has also requested continued support from the Jakarta Provincial Government through public awareness campaigns on safe migration.
The outreach efforts are expected to target various service points and communities related to prospective and active migrant workers, including sub-district and urban village offices, job training institutions, vocational training centers, Public Service Malls, remittance services, migrant worker cooperatives, migrant worker communities, and Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI).
Syaripudin explained that migrant worker-related services are also available at the Kuningan Public Service Mall (MPP PMPTSP) to make it easier for residents to access information and services related to legal migrant worker placement.
In addition, the Jakarta Nakertransgi Agency continues to conduct outreach programs to improve services and protection for prospective migrant workers among registered P3MI operating in Jakarta.
"These measures are part of the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to supporting a safe, legal, and well-protected migrant worker placement ecosystem," he asserted.
