Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung delivered the executive response to DPRD factions concerning the Women’s Protection Draft Bylaw during a plenary session on Tuesday (5/12).

Pram stated that the bill updates Bylaw No. 8/2011 to address increasingly complex forms of violence.

To build women’s resilience and economic empowerment

He emphasized, this initiative aligns with Jakarta’s "global city" vision, which prioritizes safety, equality, and human dignity as developmental pillars.

The executive highlighted several priorities, including institutional strengthening, law enforcement, and inclusive protection services. The bill aims to cover various types of abuse—from physical and psychological to technology-based violence—while implementing restorative justice with a strict focus on victim safety.

"This regulation frames protection as a means to build women’s resilience and economic empowerment," Pramono noted.

It also serves as a legal basis for integrated services, ranging from initial reporting to social reintegration.

To ensure the regulation’s success, the executive is prioritizing prevention and sustainable funding from the regional budget and other legal sources.

Pramono concluded by expressing hope for the bill’s timely enactment according to the legislative schedule.
