South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency will soon dredge Grogol River and Jelawe connecting channel (Phb) to address flooding on Jalan Sinabung, RW 05, Gunung Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district.

Grogol River will be dredged to prevent flooding from recurring

South Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head Santo said flooding of about 50 centimeters occurred after Grogol River and Jelawe Phb channel overflowed during heavy rain.

"Today we conducted another site survey to determine follow-up measures for the flooding," he stressed on Tuesday (5/5).

Santo said Grogol River will be dredged to prevent flooding from recurring during heavy rain. Checks are also underway on the retaining walls of the Jelawe Phb channel, which are suspected of leaking into nearby residential areas.

"We are conducting a thorough inspection, including field checks to confirm whether there are leaks. For Grogol River dredging, we are still identifying access routes for heavy equipment due to limited access," he informed.

He added that personnel and various types of pumps have been placed on standby at several flood-prone points to ensure a quick and effective response.

"All personnel are ready to be deployed, and the pumps have been checked and are in good condition, ready for use," he saif.

Gunung Urban Village Head Elvita Rahmadani Rangkuti explained that dozens of Orange and Blue Troops personnel were deployed during the flooding to handle the situation, including clearing debris from drainage channels.

"Thank God, the response went well. Once the rain stopped, the water receded quickly. We hope efforts to keep the environment clean, especially drainage channels, will help prevent future flooding," she said.
