UK Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation, Keir Mather MP, tried out MRT Jakarta during his visit to Indonesia.

Minister Mather traveled on MRT Jakarta from Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station to Dukuh Atas BNI Station.

He also inspected the Transport Hub building and observed the Dukuh Atas Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) area, which has been revitalized by MRT Jakarta as one of the city's busiest integrated areas.

During the visit, Minister Mather was accompanied by MRT Jakarta Business Development Director, Farchad Mahfud.

Farchad welcomed the visit, noting that despite his tight schedule, the minister took the opportunity to directly experience Indonesia's first mass rapid transit system.

"In a short time, we discussed the concept of transit-oriented development," he said on Tuesday (4/28).

On the occasion, Farchad also outlined several ongoing and upcoming MRT Jakarta projects, including the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck and the Bundaran HI multifunctional space

"For us, Minister Mather's visit to MRT Jakarta symbolizes the long-term commitment of the UK and Indonesia to building a safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation system," he said.

According to an official statement from the British Embassy in Indonesia, one of the key objectives of Minister Mather's visit was to discuss transport decarbonisation strategies, the development of urban rail systems, and stronger maritime cooperation under the UK-Indonesia Strategic Partnership.
