The Jakarta City Council held a plenary meeting to deliver the Governor's speech on the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) about the Implementation of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), Monday (4/6).
a reliable drinking water supply system is increasingly urgent
Chairman of Jakarta City Council, Khoirudin led the plenary meeting.
Khoirudin explained that this meeting was a follow-up to the results of the Jakarta City Council's Deliberative Body (Bamus) meeting on March 31, 2026.
He said that the Draft Regional Regulation on Water Supply System (SPAM) is a strategic step to ensure the fulfillment of the community's basic right to access safe, quality, equitable, and affordable drinking water.
"Amidst population growth and the complexity of urban problems, the need for a reliable drinking water supply system is increasingly urgent," he said.
According to him, the discussion of this Draft Regional Regulation not only concerns the technical aspects of services, but also includes governance, environmental sustainability, and social justice.
Therefore, Khoirudin added, synergy is needed between the City Council and the Jakarta Provincial Government so that the resulting regulations can answer current challenges as well as future needs.
Khoirudin continued that all factions in the Kebon Sirih parliament will carefully examine and study the explanation. The results will be formulated into a general factional view, scheduled to be presented at the next plenary session.
