To combat illegal levies, the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency's Parking Management Unit, placed warning banners at Blok M Square, Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, strictly prohibiting illegal parking charges.
South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Bernad Oktavianus Pasaribu said, the banners were installed following an enforcement action against illegal parking attendants by a joint task force.
Prohibit giving money to illegal attendants
"We have advised parking management to display banners that prohibit giving money to illegal attendants," he expressed, Thursday (4/2).
He explained that his team is collaborating with Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police (Polri), and South Jakarta Parking Management Unit, to conduct intensive monitoring and surveillance.
"These efforts are intended to prevent illegal levies by illegal parking attendants in the Blok M Square area," he clarified.
To date, eight warning banners have been put up at potential illegal parking sites around Blok M Square. He warned, illegal attendants who continue to operate after initial enforcement and outreach will face firm penalties, such as official investigation reports (BAP).
He also urged the public not to pay illegal attendants, particularly when official parking charges have already been settled.
"Ignore any duplicate payment requests and report them to the authorities or management right away," he asserted.
He hopes the crackdown and warning signs will act as a deterrent and encourage everyone to work together to stop illegal parking.
"We thank the residents for reporting these illegal attendants. We hope to see an end to such occurrences moving forward," he noted.
