Governor Pramono Anung ensured that the Jakarta Government is ready to build three Waste-to-Energy (PLTSa) plants, including a site in Bantargebang, Bekasi, to resolve the city's waste problems.

Pramono noted that he has discussed the matter with Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan.

"I have been in direct communication with the Coordinating Minister. He asked for the Bantargebang land to be prepared for the PLTSa plant, and it is ready. We have also formally sent him a letter regarding this," he stated at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (4/1).

He noted that the Bantargebang TPST is heavily burdened, with total waste accumulation exceeding 54 million tons.

Consequently, he is prepared to implement President Prabowo Subianto's orders to build PLTSa facilities as a sustainable waste management strategy.

"We are set to act on the President’s guidance for waste-to-energy plants, particularly for the Bantargebang site," he expressed.

He noted that Jakarta is ready to develop PLTSa plants in three locations and has sent official correspondence to the central government regarding the project.

"There will be three waste-to-energy plants in Jakarta, and we have officially notified the Coordinating Minister and related ministers," he continued.

Earlier, Pramono proposed these three PLTSa sites to be located in Bantargebang, Bekasi City, as well as Rorotan and Sunter in North Jakarta.

The Bantargebang PLTSa plant will have a daily capacity of 3,000 tons, comprising 2,000 tons of new waste and 1,000 tons of legacy waste from the site.

In comparison, the Rorotan and Sunter facilities will have daily capacities of 2,000 tons and approximately 2,500 tons of fresh waste, respectively.
