A total of four trucks with a capacity of up to 10 tons were deployed to transport garbage in the Kramat Jati Main Market area, East Jakarta.
Environmental Agency assisted in waste transportation
Head of the Kramat Jati District Environmental Implementation Unit, Dwi Firmansyah, said that the fleet was assistance from the Seribu Islands Environmental Sub-agency.
"The Environmental Agency assisted in waste transportation by sending four fleets from the Seribu Islands Environmental Service Sub-agency," he said.
Dwi explained that his team had prepared five additional vehicles to assist with waste transportation, with the first shift scheduled to travel to the Bantar Gebang dump site in Bekasi from 12 AM to 8 AM. However, the plan could not be realized due to the unavailability of heavy equipment such as shovels on site until the morning.
"Five fleets that had been put on standby were diverted to transport waste to the temporary dump site on Jalan Pendidikan, Cijantung," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Corporate Secretary of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Imam Kurniawan, explained that the waste at Kramat Jati Main Market reached around 6,970 tons or the equivalent of 410 truckloads.
As a step to accelerate handling, Imam continued, the Jakarta Environmental Agency together with Perumda Pasar Jaya continues to coordinate and carry out intensive transportation.
"So far, 33 trucks of garbage have been transported, consisting of 20 trucks the previous day, 13 trucks on March 28, and today four more trucks were added," he explained.
He confirmed that the cleaning process would continue until the Main Market returned to normal. Perumda Pasar Jaya also apologized for the inconvenience caused to traders, visitors, and the surrounding community.
