The Jakarta Public Works Agency has successfully completed the renovation of two zebra crossings on Jalan Soepomo, Tebet, South Jakarta. The work focused on five crossing points along the Pancoran-Tebet corridor.
Head of Jakarta Public Works Agency, Heru Suwondo, said as of today, the work on crossing markings has been completed in two locations, namely in front of Sahid University and opposite Kinderfield School towards Tebet.
Work will continue on the other points
"We have completed two of them. Work will continue on the other points in stages," he said, Tuesday (3/31).
Heru explained that this work was carried out by providing a permanent zebra crossing that meets technical safety standards while still taking into account existing conditions on the ground.
"We hope that the presence of this zebra crossing can support safer and more orderly mobility for residents, while strengthening a culture of mutual respect on the road," he added.
Heru added that the lack of crossing facilities at several points previously was the result of road maintenance and sidewalk improvements at the end of 2025, which caused the old markings to be covered by a layer of asphalt.
"Weather conditions also impact the work process in the field. We will continue to monitor and expedite work to ensure that all crossing points can be optimally utilized by the public," he continued.
Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of South Jakarta, Ali Murthadho said the handling of the missing zebra crossing on Jalan Prof DR Soepomo, Tebet is currently under construction.
"The latest information from the Public Works Agency, it was completed last night. We appreciate the swift action taken in responding to residents' aspirations," he stated.
