Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency personnel are improving the water channel on both sides of Jalan Cempaka Putih Tengah III RT 01/05, Cempaka Putih Timur.

Cempaka Putih District's Head of Water Resources Unit, M Suhadi said the normalization of the 288 meter long channel has been carried out since March 5 by 20 Blue Troop personnel.

"The work is targeted to complete by the end of May," he said, Friday (3/27).

He added that this channel normalization follows up on residents' suggestions because the surrounding area often floods when it rains, due to being unable to accommodate the water flow.

"We dismantled the old channel and replaced it using a 60 x 60 centimeter concrete u-ditch," he added.

Meanwhile, Sumadi (43), a local resident, appreciated the water channel improvement.

"Hopefully, after normalization, our residential area will no longer be flooded when it rains," he hoped.
