Ragunan Zoo in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, is offering a range of activities and entertainment to attract visitors during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
"During the Eid holiday from March 22 to 29, 2026, Ragunan Zoo operates from 6 AM to 4 PM,"
Ragunan Zoo Management Unit Head Endah Rumiyati informed that the zoo reopened to visitors on the second day of Eid, in line with Governor Regulation No. 63/2018 on optimizing operations and visitor management at tourist sites during specific periods.
"Today we are operating as usual, as the zoo was closed to the public on the first day of Eid to allow for optimal preparations to welcome visitors," she said on Sunday (3/22).
Endah explained that Ragunan Zoo made a series of improvements ahead of the long Eid holiday, particularly to enhance the area's aesthetics, with thematic decorations creating a more engaging atmosphere for visitors.
"During the Eid holiday from March 22 to 29, 2026, Ragunan Zoo operates from 6 AM to 4 PM," she noted.
This year, Ragunan Zoo is adopting the theme "Fun Eid at Ragunan: Share Love with Animals, Embrace the Blessings", which reflects the spirit of Eid as a moment to foster compassion for animals while embracing blessings.
As a main attraction, visitors can enjoy various educational activities such as Keeper Talks and animal feeding sessions. These involve iconic animals including orangutans, komodo dragons, and Sumatran elephants, giraffes, Bengal tigers, pelicans, and saltwater crocodiles.
"Through these educational and entertainment programs, we hope Ragunan remains a favorite destination for residents during the holiday period, especially during religious celebrations," she said.
She expects visitor numbers to rise this year as the Jakarta government encourages residents to travel within the city.
"We hope our services run smoothly and visitors enjoy the attractions we offer," she added.
