South Jakarta Administration intensifies waste management socialization at RW levels
65 percent of total waste are produced from household waste
South Jakarta Mayor, Marullah Matali conveyed, based on data from Jakarta Environment (LH) Department, waste production in Jakarta reaches 70 tons per day.
"65 percent of total waste are produced from household waste," he added, Monday (2/17).
He explained that currently Jakarta Provincial Government tries to reduce waste sent to Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Area (TPST), Bekasi, West Java.
One of the efforts is to change residents' habit in managing waste by encouraging the use of eco-friendly plastic bag, tumbler, and food container.
"We also reduce the waste from its source by adding waste management sites," he closed.
