Due to not wearing helmets, as many as 100 campaign participants from the National Awakening Party (PKB) were ticketed on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Pulomas, East Jakarta, Monday (3/24) when they were heading towards Pulomas Equestrian, Pulogadung. In addition, the police also ticketed campaign participants riding on pickup trucks.
Head of East Jakarta Resort Police Traffic Unit Chief AKBP Supoyo said the raid was done because during campaign season there were many bikers not wearing helmets and bring along passenger more than one person. Not only that, there were also many campaign participants ride on pickup trucks, which is violating traffic rules.
“Most of the netted ones are bikers not wearing helmet. We also secure pickup trucks transporting dozens of campaign participants. This raid is held to give deterrent effect for those who violated the law, and we ticket them,” he uttered.
According to Supoyo, in this raid his party found many PKB sympathizers bring along their children to join the campaign even though such a thing is prohibited by the election organizer. Therefore, the police urge all parents to no longer involve their children during campaign since it can endanger their safety.
