The East Jakarta Social Sub-agency distributed aid to flood survivors in Balekambang Urban Village, Kramat Jati Sub-district. The aid was provided in response to a request from the local urban village administration.
"...help meet the basic needs of flood survivors,"
Head of the East Jakarta Social Sub-agency, Agata Bayu Putra, said the aid was distributed to residents affected by flooding from the Ciliwung River's overflow.
"In the morning, we distributed in-kind assistance. This will be followed in the afternoon by ready-to-eat meals and bottled water," he stated on Thursday (1/29).
Agata explained that the aid included 30 five-kilogram bags of rice, 30 two-liter packs of cooking oil, 30 bottles of sweet soy sauce, 60 packs of biscuits, and 60 cans of sardines.
"We also provided 30 boxes of instant noodles and 30 goodie bags. All of the assistance was handed over to the urban village administration for distribution to affected residents," he added.
He further noted that 550 boxed ready-to-eat meals along with bottled water would also be distributed.
"Hopefully, this assistance will help meet the basic needs of flood survivors," he shared.
Meanwhile, Balekambang Urban Village Head Herman Triono expressed his appreciation for the support and assistance provided by the East Jakarta Social Sub-agency.
"We are grateful to the Social Sub-agency for providing aid to residents affected by flooding," he said.
Herman explained that flooding caused by the overflow of the Ciliwung River began at around 9 AM in RW 01 and RW 05, with water levels ranging from 30 to 50 centimeters.
According to him, there are currently no evacuees, but residents have been urged to remain alert and to evacuate to safer areas if flood levels continue to rise.
"We have deployed around 30 joint personnel from Satpol PP, PPSU, Water Resources Task Force, Bhabinkamtibmas, Babinsa, and the Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM) to assist residents," he noted.
