Jakarta City Council's Commission B Member, Ade Suherman supports the plan to expand Transjabodetabek services as an effort to encourage people to shift from using private vehicles to public transportation, especially for residents of Jakarta's buffer zones.
facilitate people's mobility
He assessed that the discourse on adding the Transjakarta Blok M–Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) route and the Cawang–Jababeka route is a strategic step to increase public interest in using public transportation.
According to him, providing affordable and integrated transportation is key to the policy's success. The public will have more practical and efficient travel options with the addition of TransJabodetabek routes.
"This will facilitate people's mobility and make public transportation more popular," he said, Monday (1/26).
He hopes the Jakarta Provincial Government will also complement the expansion of these services with adequate park-and-ride facilities. Ade stated these facilities will allow residents to park their private vehicles and continue their journeys using public transportation.
Ade is optimistic that optimal transportation integration will not only reduce congestion but also reduce air pollution.
"With an integrated transportation system, the target of reducing congestion and air pollution, while also realizing a more organized Jakarta, is expected to be achieved," he stated.
