The inundation that occurred at RW 09 Bendungan Hilir Urban Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Friday (1/23) morning has receded.
The floodwaters are gradually receding
Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin who visited the area, the flooding in the residential areas of RT 05 and 09/RW 01 was triggered by the embankment at several points along the Krukut River which crosses the Hilir Dam breaking since morning.
"The Krukut River embankment that broke has not been sheetpiled. The overflowing river water has inundated two residential areas," he said.
To prevent the Krukut River from overflowing, Arifin added, the Water Resources Sub-agency personnel was deployed to build a temporary embankment from sandbags.
"The floodwaters are gradually receding, as the water level of the Krukut River falls," he added.
Meanwhile, Head of Tanah Abang District's Water Resources Unit, Eli Menawan Sari admitted her side deployed 15 personnel to build temporary embankment.
"Since midday, the floodwaters in two neighborhood units have receded. Hopefully, the Krukut River will not overflow again," she hoped.
