Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is doubling down on flood prevention by extending Jakarta’s Weather Modification Operation (OMC).

To support 'School From Home' setups effectively

Due to the persistent increase in rainfall over the capital, the cloud seeding mission—initially slated to wrap up today—is now being pushed back to January 27.

Speaking on the ground at Cakung Lama River today, he emphasized that the move is crucial to managing the current extreme weather window.

He has ordered an immediate boost in OMC to shield the city from extreme rain.

• New Frequency: Increased from 1x to 3x daily

• Goal: To neutralize rain clouds before they cause flooding

• Duration: High-intensity operations active until January 27

To mitigate traffic gridlock and ensure student safety during the current extreme weather, Pramono has directed the Education Agency to implement Remote Learning (PJJ). He expressed confidence that the quality of education will remain high despite the shift.

"Jakarta's infrastructure is well-equipped to support 'School From Home' setups effectively," he added.

He has also approved a Work From Home (WFH) advisory for the city's workforce, issued by the Manpower Agency.

"Both agencies have released official circulars—the Manpower Agency for workers, and the Education Agency for students," he confirmed.

The remote learning directive is currently in effect until January 28, 2026, with further reviews planned as weather conditions develop.
