Head of Tanah Abang District's Water Resources Unit, Eli Menawan Sari said the flooding on Jalan Karet Pasar Baru 5 was caused by high rainfall and an increase in the water level of the Krukut River, as well as the concave land contour.
Meanwhile, on Jalan Petamburan 1, flooding was triggered by rainfall and rising water levels in the West Flood Canal.
"We deployed five personnel and two floating pumps to handle inundation in those two locations," she said.
With the support of two floating pumps, Eli added, the floodwaters on two roads were sucked up and channeled to the Krukut River and the West Flood Canal.
"We are optimistic that if the rain stops, the flooding in the two locations will recede completely as quickly as possible," she admitted.
