Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin, Thursday (1/22), visited Kali Item Pump House, Serdang Urban Village, Kemayoran.

According to Arifin, he wanted to see the progress of repairing the water gate at the Kali Item Pump House which is connected to the Sunter River.

The water gate at the pump house was jammed and has now returned to normal after being repaired.

"Personnel of Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency repairing damage to the water gate at the Kali Item pump house," he said.

According to him, high intensity rainfall that has been pouring since dawn and overflowing water from the Sentiong River has caused the water level in the Item River to rise and inundate the surrounding residential areas.

"Three stationary pumps, each with a capacity of 2,000 LPS, are functioning optimally. We are optimistic that the floodwaters will recede quickly, especially in Serdang Urban Village," he stated.
