Head of Cipulir Urban Village, Pringgodani said cleaning was carried out to anticipate flooding caused by overflowing of the Sekretaris River due to high intensity rain over a long period of time.

"The mud sedimentation is quite thick, even exceeding the water level. This is believed to be due to the rain over the past few days, which has caused high water levels and brought with it a significant amount of mud sediment," he said, Tuesday (1/20).

In carrying out the cleaning and draining of the mud, his party deployed 30 joint personnel equipped with manual tools, because heavy equipment could not enter the location.

"Considering the current weather is often accompanied by rain, we will intensify the cleaning of water channels and the draining of mud so that flooding does not occur in our area," he added.

Sopian (48), a local resident, appreciated the government's quick steps to anticipate flooding during the rainy season like this.

"We coordinated with the urban village and they followed up quickly," he stated.
