Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A entrance at the Duta Merlin Complex today.

Harmoni TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) is completed in 2029

This development is part of the ongoing expansion of the capital’s rapid transit network connecting Bundaran HI to the historic Kota Tua district.

He highlighted that Harmoni Station is a unique infrastructure hub due to its location at the intersection of business and governance. The station is surrounded by key commercial entities like Gajah Mada Plaza and is within walking distance of the country’s highest government offices, including the Presidential Palace and the State Secretariat.

"I am firmly convinced that once the Harmoni TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) is completed in 2029, it will stand as a highly strategic landmark for the city," he expressed, Tuesday (1/20).

He expressed his aspiration that the MRT’s expansion would serve as more than just a solution to Jakarta’s chronic traffic congestion. He envisions the project as a catalyst to revitalize the Harmoni business district, fostering rapid economic growth in the area.

"It is my sincere hope that this location evolves into an extraordinary and flourishing TOD hub," he added.

MRT Jakarta is accelerating the construction of Phase 2A, a 5.8-kilometer extension connecting Bundaran HI to the historic Kota district. The project comprises seven deep-tunnel stations, namely Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kota.

The construction timeline is divided into two phases: Segment 1 (Bundaran HI to Harmoni) is expected to wrap up in 2027, followed by Segment 2 (Harmoni to Kota) in 2029. By utilizing a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) approach, the expansion is designed to facilitate seamless transfers between various public transport modes, optimizing urban mobility in Jakarta’s busiest corridors

"I am confident that Harmoni will evolve into a bustling TOD hub and a heavily frequented station. Its significance lies in its dual role as a commercial epicenter and a primary transit point for the government workforce," he explained.

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director, Tuhiyat, detailed that Harmoni Station will span 252 meters in length and 18 meters in width, with a depth of 17 meters. To bolster city-wide connectivity, the station will feature seven entrances, three of which will be directly integrated with Transjakarta bus stops.

Regarding performance targets, MRT Jakarta is aiming to scale up its daily ridership from 127,000 to 137,000 passengers this year.

"By 2026, we are determined to reach nearly 50 million passengers annually," he stated.

The Phase 2A expansion is on a phased operational track: the route from Bundaran HI to Monas is slated to open in 2027, followed by the Harmoni Station-Kota Station segment in 2029.

He lauded the collective effort behind the construction of the MRT stations, highlighting the vital role played by various parties.

"Our sincere appreciation goes to PT Duta Merlin; their active collaboration and concrete support are a testament to the strong commitment toward enhancing Jakarta’s infrastructure," he closed.
