The water that inundated Jalan Mangga Besar and Pangeran Jayakarta, Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta, since Sunday (1/18) morning, has receded at noon.
has receded fully at 9:30 AM
Head of Sawah Besar District Water Resources Unit, Yusuf Sumardani said high intensity rainfall triggered the overflow of the Ciliwung River, resulting in flooding of Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta, Mangga Besar, Mangga Dua Raya and Jalan Pisang Batu.
To overcome the flooding, Yusuf added, 42 blue troop personnel from the Sawah Besar and Menteng Districts as well as the Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency's Maintenance task force were deployed.
"The inundation on Jalan Mangga Besar and Pangeran Jayakarta has receded fully at 9:30 AM," he said.
Currently, Yusuf explained, joint personnel are still carrying out efforts to handle the flooding on Jalan Mangga Dua Raya and Pisang Batu.
"Three floating pumps were also deployed to help drain the water that was still inundating the Mangga Dua Raya and Pisang Batu roads," he explained.
He continued that the water level on Jalan Mangga Dua Raya and Pisang Batu is currently around 20 to 30 centimeters.
"We are optimistic that the floodwaters on the two roads will recede completely by this afternoon if there is no heavy rain," he stated.
