The Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin led the community service on Jalan Mangga Dua Raya and Pangeran Jayakarta, Sawah Besar District, Tuesday (1/13).

The activity, involving 280 joint personnel from the Regional Government Organization (OPD) and PPSU task forces, as well as residents, addressed the frequent flooding around the location. They cleaned and normalized the drainage system and pruned trees at risk of falling.

Arifin explained the Sawah Besar District area, which borders North Jakarta and West Jakarta, is potentially affected by flooding due to rain and tidal flooding.

"So, we'll fix whatever is clogging and obstructing the water flow . Hopefully, this collaborative effort will yield tangible results for the community," he said.

Head of Sawah Besar District, Ary Sonjaya stated Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta and Jalan Mangga Dua Raya are prone to inundation.

He explained that the problem of flooding in the Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta area was triggered by blockages in the water channels.

Meanwhile, the problem of flooding in the Jalan Mangga Dua Raya area was triggered by the damming of a four-meter-wide water channel in front of Harco Mangga Dua by the implementer of a public facility work project.

"We are dismantling the dam to prevent it from clogging the canal. The project implementers also stated that they will evaluate the work and build a better retaining wall," he explained.
