The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has temporarily suspended express boat services to Seribu Islands departing from Muara Angke Port in North Jakarta.

We are putting safety first

The decision was made in response to adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and high sea swells that pose significant risks to maritime safety.

Jakarta’s Water Transit Chief, Muhamad Wildan Anwar, characterized the halt as a "safety-first" move to prevent disasters at sea.

It is based on BMKG weather data and the fact that the Muara Angke Port Master and Port Authority (KSOP) has withheld all sailing permits due to dangerous conditions.

"We are putting safety first. Current weather advisories and field assessments confirm that the waters are simply too dangerous for express boat operations to Seribu Islands right now," he expressed, Tuesday (1/13).

There are four primary express boat routes from Muara Angke have been temporarily suspended.

The affected lines include:

Route 1: Serving Untung Jawa, Lancang, Payung, and Tidung islands

Route 2: Serving Untung Jawa, Pari, Panggang, and Pramuka islands

Route 3: Serving Pari, Pramuka, and Kelapa islands

Route 4: Serving Kelapa and Sabira islands

"We are maintaining close coordination with the Muara Angke Port Master regarding weather updates and maritime safety. Operations will only resume once sailing permits are issued and conditions are deemed safe," he explained.

Service Unit Head, Suparto Napitu noted that the fleet has been grounded since Sunday (1/11).

"Departures have been at a standstill for three days now. Hopefully, weather conditions will improve by Wednesday so service can return to normal," he explained.

He is reassuring the public that all tickets purchased for the suspended boat services will be fully refunded.

"Passengers are guaranteed a return of their funds, which will be processed through Bank Jakarta following standard procedures," he added.

People headed to Seribu Islands are urged to stay informed via official channels regarding weather and schedule updates.

"We strongly advise against attempting sea travel until conditions improve. Safety must always come first," he emphasized.
