North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat ensured that flood management involving personnel from various Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) was carried out optimally.
recede quickly
Hendra said that the flooding that occurred on several roads in North Jakarta was caused by high rainfall with an intensity of more than 150 millimeters.
"It has been raining since morning and has caused flooding in several areas," he said, Monday (1/12).
Joint personnel have been deployed to assist residents passing by and to regulate traffic flow to avoid congestion and minimize the risk of accidents.
"In the Sunter area, several roads are no longer passable by motorbikes. Many vehicles have stalled trying to get through. We have instructed all ranks to be on standby and assist residents," he added.
He continued that the North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency prepares water pumps, equipment, and personnel in prone to inundation areas.
"So that the floodwaters can recede quickly and community activities can return to normal," he continued.
The North Jakarta City Government has coordinated with local neighborhood units (RT) and community units (RW) to provide information to residents regarding impassable road points and to direct them to use alternative routes.
Meanwhile, Head of North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency, Heria Suwandi stated rain intensity reaching more than 150 millimeters caused the existing drainage infrastructure to be unable to accommodate the water flow.
"Today's flooding or inundation was purely caused by extreme rainfall that was evenly distributed across all districts of North Jakarta, not because of high sea levels," he stated.
According to him, his rank deployed 50 pumps at 17 pump houses. 16 mobile pumps are also deployed.
"We continue to monitor and take maximum action. The public is urged to remain vigilant and cautious," he appealed.
