Water Resources (SDA) personnel, known as Blue Troops, quickly responded to flooding at several locations in Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta, following heavy rainfall since the morning.
"...almost the entire Koja area is flooded due to the rain,"
Koja Sub-district SDA Unit Head, Slamet Riyanto, said almost the entire Koja area was affected. To quickly drain floodwaters, 20 Blue Troops personnel were deployed, with five pump houses operating at full capacity.
"Today we are operating stationary pumps at five pump houses because almost the entire Koja area is flooded due to the rain," he mentioned on Monday (1/12).
He detailed several flooded areas including Jalan Mangga, Jalan Plumpang Raya, Jalan Walang Baru VII A, Jalan Jampea (in front of Mbah Priok Cemetery), Jalan Deli, Jalan Mawar, Jalan Cipeucang, Lorong Z, and Lorong 22.
"The water levels in these areas vary, ranging from 20 to 30 centimeters," he noted.
Slamet explained that since morning, personnel have taken initial steps by clearing water channels and drainage systems to help floodwaters recede quickly and minimize disruption to residents' activities.
He added that his team will remain on standby until all standing water has fully receded. He also urged residents, especially road users, to stay alert as heavy rainfall may still occur.
Meanwhile, Rawa Badak Selatan Urban Village Head, Yeny Fisdiyanti, stated that PPSU personnel had been deployed to clean water channels and drains.
She called on the community to keep their surroundings clean and refrain from littering, so drainage systems can function properly, especially amid extreme weather.
"This morning, I also went on-site to ensure the flood response was running effectively. We hope that through collaboration between SDA, PPSU, and the community, the issue will be resolved quickly," she emphasized.
