Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung assessed that early preventive measures are considered important in anticipating the potential spread of the Influenza A (H3N2) subclade K variant, or also known as Superflu.

I personally hope there aren't any in Jakarta,

He stated that although no positive cases have been detected in Jakarta up to now, prevention is crucial. Therefore, he encouraged the public to get vaccinated against influenza.

"I have conveyed to the Head of Health Agency that people who want to be vaccinated are welcome to do so. As explained earlier, some people have to pay," he said, Friday (1/9).

Pramono has coordinated with the Health Minister regarding the handling and anticipation of the potential spread of Superflu. This Superflu variant is considered less dangerous than Covid-19.

"This superflu is not like Covid-19, and hopefully Jakarta is prepared for it if there are indeed patients in Jakarta. Hopefully, I personally hope there aren't any in Jakarta," he added.

Head of Jakarta Health Agency, Ani Ruspitawati explained although it is not yet included in the program vaccine category, the current influenza vaccine is effective in preventing various flu variants, including the H3N2 variant.

"So, this means it's not yet a program vaccine. It's still paid. However, people can get the influenza vaccine at healthcare facilities, including our regional hospital," she explained.
