The East Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency pruned 20,718 trees across 10 sub-districts throughout 2025.
This is a proactive measure to prevent trees
Sub-agency Head, Dwi Ponangsera stated that the pruning is a direct response to resident reports submitted via JAKI app and daily monitoring by the city’s "Green Task Force".
"This is a proactive measure to prevent trees from collapsing during heavy rain and high winds. Additionally, keeping the canopy in check ensures that streetlights provide optimal visibility at night, improving overall road safety," he expressed, Thursday (1/8).
By the Numbers:
The operation utilized a dedicated team of 99 personnel. Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita, the agency’s greenbelt and cemetery division head, provided a breakdown of the maintenance:
• 17,348 trees underwent moderate pruning
• 2,545 trees required heavy pruning
• 825 trees received light pruning
He noted that any trees deemed a high-risk hazard were felled immediately.
"Public safety is our top priority. While we remove dangerous structures, we remain committed to our rejuvenation program to ensure East Jakarta stays green and vibrant," he closed.
