The dredging of water channel along 531 meters on Jalan Pisang Batu, Mangga Dua Selatan, Sawah Besar, run by Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency is targeted for completion in early February.

Head of Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency, Yusuf Sumardani said the drainage of the channel, which is 1.8 meters wide and high, is carried out by 10 task force personnel since early January 2026.

"The mud thickness reaches 50 cm. It surely triggers inundation," he said.

Yusuf added the dredging is run to respond to local residents' aspiration.

"The dredging is targeted to complete in early February," he added.

Santo (35), a local resident, appreciated the dredging. He stated that the channel triggered inundation.

"Hopefully this newly dredged channel will prevent inundation," he stated.
