The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has initiated a pilot program to implement a one-way traffic system on Jalan Salemba Tengah, Central Jakarta. The trial began Tuesday, January 6, 2026, and is slated to run through January 20, 2026.

This adjustment is designed to minimize traffic conflicts

Under the new traffic pattern, the previously two-way street has been converted to a single-direction flow. Motorists are now only permitted to travel from Jalan Salemba Raya toward Jalan Percetakan Negara, Jalan Paseban Raya, and Jalan Pramuka Jati.

"This adjustment is designed to minimize traffic conflicts and alleviate heavy congestion in the area," said Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo, Wednesday (1/7).

Detour Routes:

Motorists traveling from Jalan Pramuka Jati and Jalan Percetakan Negara toward Jalan Salemba Raya are being rerouted via Jalan Paseban Raya.

"Dishub has also made additional traffic diversion on surrounding streets to maintain order and flow," he added.

Officials are advising motorists to avoid the Salemba Tengah corridor if possible and to plan their trips according to the new regulations.

"We urge the public to obey all traffic signage, follow instructions from officers on the ground, and prioritize safety at all times," Liputo added.
