More than 408,000 tourists visited South Jakarta’s Ragunan Zoo during the recent Christmas and New Year holidays.

Attendance peaked on January 1, 2026

Ragunan Zoo Public Relations Head, Wahyudi Bambang noted that the facility saw a massive influx of families looking to celebrate the transition into 2026.

"Attendance peaked on January 1, 2026, with the number of visitors reaching 113,398," he expressed, Friday (1/2).

The turnout marked the peak of the 2025 holiday season, with 408,755 visitors logged between December 23 and January 1.

"Attendance outperformed our forecast of 100,000 for New Year’s Day. The zoo remained at high capacity from morning until afternoon as families continued to arrive," he explained.

With school holidays still in effect, Ragunan Zoo expects to see high capacity through the end of the week. Attendance began to spike just before Christmas, peaking at over 50,000 on December 25. The busiest day of the stretch was December 28, which saw 77,497 visitors pass through the gates.

Daily Attendance Highlights:

December 25 (Christmas): 50,933

December 28 (Sunday): 77,497

December 31 (New Year’s Eve): 14,217

“The consistent turnout proves the zoo's enduring appeal,” he explained.

For local residents like Rizki Sianturi (37), the park provides an accessible refuge for family time.

"It’s a short trip from Kalibata, which is perfect for the family after a long night at the New Year’s Eve festivities downtown,” he stated.
