The song 'Heal The World' echoed on one of the stages of the New Year's Eve celebrations located at FX Sudirman, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/31).
we have empathy
Heal The World, popularized by legendary singer Michael Jackson, is known for carrying a universal message of caring, real action, and hope for world healing.
From the stage, it was delivered with an emotional nuance, inviting the audience to pause for a moment from the euphoria and remember their fellow countrymen who were facing disaster.
Karina (35), a resident of Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, admitted to feeling a difference in this year's New Year's Eve celebrations.
"I actually prefer it this way, so we have empathy and the Jakarta government has awareness too. We're reminded that our brothers and sisters in Indonesia are experiencing a disaster," she said.
She also assessed that the donation-raising measures displayed on stage, such as banners and QRIS on the screen, were quite effective.
"I'm completely cashless, so I just scan QRIS, I think it's very effective for donations," she added.
Meanwhile, Jerico (24), a resident of Ciracas, East Jakarta, expressed a similar view. He believes this New Year's Eve celebration is not only a form of entertainment, but also a way to foster empathy.
"I think this is great. We're still holding events but also donating to Sumatra. There's also interfaith prayer, which aligns with the values of Pancasila," he stated.
As for information, the New Year's Eve celebration at FX Sudirman carried the theme "From Jakarta With Love – Embrace Diversity, Nurture Hope." Several musicians also graced the stage, including Happy Asmara, The Freshcut, Young Tiger, Mental Baja, Luminoute, Economy Class, Orkes Biang Kerok, Django, and Suratmi FM.
