Thousands of cleaning personnel from the Jakarta Environmental Agency will immediately move to ensure Jakarta is clean and comfortable again after the 'New Year's Eve 2026 Jakarta Global City: From Jakarta with Love' celebration is over, precisely before dawn.

We want to ensure Jakarta is clean before dawn

A total of 3,845 cleaning personnel were deployed to clean up the remains of the celebration, which served as a momentum for interfaith prayers and fundraising for those affected by the disaster in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.

Head of Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto said while some residents are still closing the night with prayers and hopes for the New Year 2026, others are preparing to start their silent work.

"We want to ensure Jakarta is clean before dawn. After the series of prayers and fundraising activities are complete, personnel will immediately go out to ensure the trash doesn't pile up and the city can breathe again," he said.

According to him, personnel are on standby at various strategic points, starting from Monas, Bundaran HI, to the MH Thamrin–Sudirman corridor, and spread across the five administrative areas of Jakarta and the Seribu Islands.

"A fleet of garbage trucks, road sweepers, toilet buses and other supporting facilities were also deployed to speed up the cleaning process," he added.

According to him, cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of personnel, but rather a habit that needs to develop from collective awareness. Therefore, Asep also encouraged the public to participate in caring for the city.

"City cleanliness is our responsibility," he stated.
