The Jakarta Provincial Government will soon distribute donations collected from the residents during the 2026 New Year's Eve celebration. These donations will be handed over to those affected by disasters in Sumatra.
"...collection will end when the celebration finishes, which is expected to be around 1 AM,”
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the collection of donations will continue until the New Year's Eve event concludes.
"Because the donations are linked to the New Year event, collection will end when the celebration finishes, which is expected to be around 1 AM,” Pramono stated at Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/31).
Pramono mentioned that the city government collaborated with Baznas Jakarta to distribute the donated aid. This is not the first time the city has provided assistance to disaster-affected residents in Sumatra.
He noted that the city is committed to continuing support, including through cooperation with PAM Jaya, which is sending a mobile water treatment plant and water tank trucks this morning.
"Therefore, the coordination will be handled by Jakarta Government together with Baznas Bazis," he emphasized.
By 10:40 PM, community donations had totaled around Rp2.9 billion. The governor thanked everyone who contributed and supported the government's relief efforts for the people in Sumatra.
Moreover, PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol also contributed 10 percent of its revenue for today.
"Ancol's 10 percent contribution will definitely be significant. We will officially announce the total donations after midnight,” he added.
The New Year's Eve celebration was held under the theme "Jakarta Global City: From Jakarta with Love", showing the city's compassion, solidarity, and empathy toward disaster-affected residents.
Besides fundraising, the Jakarta Government also organized joint prayers led by several religious leaders at various entertainment stages set up for the event.
