Jakarta is gearing up for its "From Jakarta with Love" New Year’s Eve bash tonight, with eight major stages set up from Lapangan Banteng to FX Sudirman. The events will run from 6 PM until 1 AM.

All measures are situational

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo confirmed that situational traffic engineering will be enforced at 33 road segments to accommodate the holiday rush.

"We are monitoring 33 points to maintain the flow of traffic as residents celebrate," he expressed, Wednesday (12/31).

Commuters are urged to check official transit apps for real-time updates as the city transitions into 2026.

Jakarta will implement road closures and traffic rerouting from 6 PM to 1 AM for New Year’s Eve. The measures focus on high-traffic hubs like Jalan Sudirman-Jalan Thamrin, Jalan Semanggi, and SCBD, impacting major thoroughfares across Central and South Jakarta.

Jakarta has released the list of streets affected by New Year’s Eve traffic diversions:

Main Corridors: Jalan Jenderal Sudirman (Senayan to Bundaran HI) and Jalan MH Thamrin (Bundaran HI to Horse Statue).

Connecting Routes: Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jalan Kebon Kacang, Jalan Teluk Betung, and Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio.

Key Hubs: Jalan Gatot Subroto (Semanggi ramps), SCBD District, Dukuh Atas BNI 46 transit hub, Landmark Indocement, Jalan Setiabudi, and Jalan Bendungan Hilir.

Traffic diversions are also slated for several strategic intersections, including:

"All measures are situational and subject to change based on traffic density," he explained, Wednesday (12/31).

Motorists navigating the capital tonight should prepare for significant detours. The Transportation Agency confirmed that traffic will be redirected through feeder roads such as Jalan Rasuna Said, Jalan Gatot Subroto, and Jalan KH Mas Mansyur to keep the city moving during celebrations.

Starting at 6 PM, the Monas area will see 10 major road closures, including segments of Jalan Kebon Sirih, Jalan Majapahit, and Jalan Veteran. These restrictions will remain in place until 1 AM.

Specific rerouting plans for key commutes include:

From Jalan Senen to Harmoni: Diverted via Jalan Ir. Juanda and Jalan Dr. Sutomo.

From Cikini to Jalan Veteran: Diverted via Jalan Arief Rahman Hakim and Jalan Kramat Kwitang.

From Tomang to Senen: Diverted via major alternative arteries to bypass the city center.

Traffic management is expanding to Lapangan Banteng, with routes adjusted for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Additionally, the city is rerouting traffic around Jalan Panglima Polim and Jalan Blok M.

Motorists from Jalan Fatmawati, Jalan Antasari, and Jalan Senayan should expect to be diverted through alternative roads, including Jalan Kyai Maja, Jalan Iskandarsyah Raya, and Jalan Pattimura. Officials urge the public to plan for extra travel time or utilize public transit to bypass the affected zones.

Jakarta transit officials are adjusting operations at major landmarks like Ancol, Kota Tua, TMII, and Ragunan Zoo to manage New Year’s Eve crowds.

Ancol: Optimized entry via West, East, and Carnaval gates.

Kota Tua & TMII: Traffic diversions in place to reduce congestion.

Ragunan Zoo: One-way system on Jalan Harsono RM during peak hours; entrance and exit points subject to situational changes.

Officials urge visitors to remain patient and follow on-site directions to ensure a safe and orderly celebration.

Jakarta is boosting transit and parking options for the New Year’s Eve countdown:

Bus Service: 48 Transjakarta routes will be rerouted or modified due to street closures.

Parking: 36 locations are available along Jalan Sudirman-Jalan Thamrin and Jalan Panglima Polim corridors, offering roughly 43,500 total spaces for cars and bikes.

MRT Jakarta: Extended service from 5 AM to 2 AM. Trains run every 10 minutes, increasing to every 5 minutes from midnight to 1 AM.

LRT Jakarta: Extended service from 5:30 AM to 2 AM with 10-minute headways.

As Jakarta prepares for a massive New Year's Eve turnout, the Transportation Agency is prioritizing emergency preparedness. A network of 15 referral hospitals will be on high alert, supported by dedicated emergency corridors to bypass holiday crowds.

They are Tarakan Regional Hospital, Budi Kemuliaan Hospital, Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital (RSPAD), Tanah Abang Regional Hospital, Cipto Mangunkusumo National Hospital (RSCM), Murni Teguh Hospital, Mintohardjo Naval Hospital, Jakarta Hospital, Siloam Semanggi, Mayapada Hospital, Metropolitan Medical Centre, Sumber Waras Hospital, Harapan Kita Hospital, Pelni Hospital, and Pertamina Central Hospital.

To keep the city moving, Syafrin is calling on the public to ditch private cars in favor of public transit. The MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta will all be available to help reduce gridlock in major celebration hubs like Jalan Sudirman-Jalan Thamrin and Blok M.

Travelers are encouraged to:

Plan Ahead: Adjust your departure times and bypass closed road segments.

Follow Directives: Adhere to traffic signs and officer instructions.

Gambir Station Alert: If you have a long-distance train to catch at Gambir, budget significant extra time due to closures around the Monas.
