The shores of Sakura Beach on Untung Jawa Island will serve as the backdrop for North Jakarta's transition into 2026. The Seribu Islands Regency announced that this year’s New Year’s Eve bash will double as a fundraiser to support those affected by recent disasters in Sumatra.

Under the banner of 'Jakarta Global City: Welcoming the New Year from the Capital's Maritime Gateway,' the event is designed to blend holiday cheer with a mission of social responsibility, emphasizing unity and care for fellow residents.

As Jakarta prepares to enter 2026, the Seribu Islands will host a celebration that blends festive cheer with a humanitarian mission.

Sonti Pangaribuan, who leads the local Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-agency, described the event as a pivotal moment for fostering community spirit.

“Jakarta greets 2026 from Seribu Islands with togetherness and charity. the donation drive is intended as a tangible sign of solidarity with fellow Indonesians in need,” she expressed, Tuesday (12/30).

Starting at 10 AM, the event will showcase a star-studded lineup of national talent, including the likes of Jamroad, Dahlia KDI, and Anggun Syakila, alongside several popular bands and DJs.

By designating Untung Jawa Island as the official celebration site, Jakarta officials aim to bolster the archipelago’s status as a top-tier travel destination. She explained, the move highlights the city’s dual identity.

“We want to show that Jakarta is more than just a sprawling land city; it has a vibrant maritime strength that can serve as a center for culture and major festivities,” she explained.

To ensure a safe and orderly environment, her office has been actively educating locals and visitors on a strict ban regarding fireworks and firecrackers during the year-end countdown.

"Let’s welcome the new year with joy but without danger,” Sonti said, urging the public to follow safety guidelines for the collective good.

Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Head, Muslim announced that more than 70 officers from various agencies would be deployed to monitor the island’s New Year’s Eve event. He noted, coordination between authorities is already finalized to ensure a smooth transition into 2026.

“We will oversee the event until it concludes. We want to ensure a safe, comfortable, and orderly experience for every visitor," he stated.
