Jakarta is tightening security ahead of 2026, with the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) holding a massive readiness roll call at the National Monument (Monas), Tuesday (12/30).

Jakarta Satpol PP Chief, Satriadi Gunawan confirmed that 288 personnel and 144 motorcycles from the agency's Quick Response Unit will be deployed to safeguard New Year's Eve celebrations. The specialized task force is designed to handle public complaints and emergencies swiftly as the city welcomes the new year.

They will focus on investigating resident reports of public order disturbances, including unauthorized street vending. This proactive approach aims to bypass the heavy traffic congestion that typically clogs Jakarta’s thoroughfares during New Year’s Eve celebrations, which often hampers emergency and security responses.

“Should we receive complaints regarding public order violations—particularly those involving unlicensed trading—the Quick Response Unit will intervene immediately. Our priority is to ensure the community receives fast and optimal assistance," he stated.

He continued personnel will be stationed at major New Year’s Eve celebration hubs, including the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, FX Sudirman, SCBD, Semanggi, Dukuh Atas, Sarinah, Thamrin, Lapangan Banteng, and Kota Tua (Old Town), along with other strategic sites.

Beyond patrol duties, he is calling on the public to reduce firework usage to show support for disaster victims in Sumatra. He emphasized that maintaining the city’s security is a collective effort.

"In the spirit of 'Jaga Jakarta,' let’s ensure a safe night for everyone," Satriadi said.
