Traders at the fire-ravaged C2 Fruit Sub-Wholesale block in East Jakarta's Kramat Jati Central Market are praising market authorities for the swift provision of temporary relocation sites.

We expect the site to be fully occupied by the end of the week

Alamsyah (45), representing the affected traders, emphasized that this move is essential for restoring business operations and allowing commerce to return to normal.

“Traders in Block C2 are key contributors to Perumda Pasar Jaya and vital to the market's economic cycle. Following the fire, the swift construction of these shelters was imperative, and we are grateful they are now ready,” he expressed, Saturday (12/27).

Currently, more than half of the 350 traders have occupied the temporary stalls, while the rest of the site is being finalized. Alamsyah is pushing for full completion to ensure all vendors can capitalize on the high market demand expected during the New Year holiday rush.

Market Manager Agus Lamun explained, traders at Kramat Jati Central Market are being relocated to a temporary site south of the management office following a recent blaze. Following an allocation ballot held last week, the gradual move-in process commenced on Tuesday (12/23).

"We expect the site to be fully occupied by the end of the week. At present, the team is completing finishing touches such as lighting and marking out pitches for the traders," he explained.

He further noted that the plots allocated to the traders at the temporary site measure 1.5 by 2 square metres each, in accordance with a mutual agreement reached with the traders.

"Our priority was to ensure no one was left out. By adjusting the pitch size to 1.5 by 2 metres, we were able to provide space for every single trader," he added.
