The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has ensured that public transportation services throughout the Christmas and New Year holiday season remain safe, orderly, and under control.
This achievement stems from the readiness of all personnel
Interim reports from December 18 to 25 show that traffic and passenger volumes remain stable, a result of heightened security and monitoring across all transit nodes.
Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo stated that effective coordination and optimized services have allowed the city to manage the Christmas rush efficiently. Intensive supervision at key points continues to support safe and orderly public mobility
"Data shows that 2025 holiday mobility remained dynamic and fully under control. This achievement stems from the readiness of all personnel and strong partnerships between the government, transport operators, and related agencies,” he expressed, Friday (12/26).
Seven intercity terminals in Jakarta logged 11,516 passengers by late December 25, with 6,898 departures leading the count. While this is a 78.82 percent increase over normal days, it is a 3.85 percent decrease compared to Christmas 2024.
Pulo Gebang and Tanjung Priok terminals experienced the most notable surges, reflecting a more even distribution of holiday travel across the city.
Then, traffic activity at Jakarta’s four major toll plazas on Christmas Day saw a total of 134,429 vehicles entering the city and 184,573 exiting. While movement was generally steady, there were slight variations in traffic growth and decline at specific gates compared to last year.
Data from 18 Traffic Control System (SPLL) sensors captured roughly 2.1 million vehicle movements in and out of the capital on December 25, 2025. Notably, these figures represent a dip from typical traffic levels, suggesting that holiday travel was more manageable than usual.
Sea travel to Seribu Islands saw a significant boost this Christmas, with 4,516 passengers logged—a 313.78 percent leap from typical days and an 80 percent jump compared to last year’s festivities. The data underscores a robust public preference for maritime transit during the year-end break.
As for the Jakarta’s major rail hubs—Gambir, Pasar Senen, and Jatinegara—served 62,625 long-distance passengers on December 25. Rail traffic grew by 1.33 percent year-on-year, while maintainining seamless operations and high punctuality standards.
Jakarta's year-end travel data shows that 83,090 passengers moved through seven intercity terminals between December 18 and 24, a 16.48 percent drop from the previous year. Toll road traffic similarly declined by 0.81 percent, a trend officials say reflects a better-managed spread of public travel.
To maintain high safety standards, authorities are intensifying vehicle inspections and medical check-ups for bus crews. By December 25, 2025, inspections had been conducted on 1,148 vehicles, while 381 personnel were screened to guarantee that all operational fleets meet roadworthiness standards.

"Safety is our primary concern. Our ramp checks and health screenings ensure all transport modes are in top shape for Christmas and New Year," said the official. They added that monitoring will be intensified as the city approaches the peak of the 2026 New Year holiday season.
