To safeguard Christmas celebrations, North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency is mobilizing 287 officers for traffic control and security near local churches.
They are on standby at posts citywide
North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Rudy Saptari Sulesuryana emphasized that those 287 officers are tasked with maintaining seamless traffic flow and ensuring a secure environment for worshipers during their Christmas services.
"They are on standby at posts citywide. We are also managing traffic at churches prone to congestion,” he noted, Thursday (12/25).
He added that efforts are focused on churches with large crowds, with personnel deployed according to the traffic risk at each specific spot.
Traffic management is currently underway across several districts: Penjaringan (2 churches), Pademangan (1), and Tanjung Priok (4 priority sites). Security also covers Kelapa Gading (7), Cilincing (6), and Koja (4).
He expressed his hope for safe and orderly traffic throughout the festivities.
His sub-agency will continue to evaluate road conditions to anticipate holiday congestion.
"Road users are reminded to obey traffic signs and cooperate with officers on the ground to ensure a smooth travel experience," he added.
"Public cooperation is essential to ensure smooth traffic flow and a safe, solemn Christmas celebration,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Grace (31), a congregant at St. John Bosco Church on Jalan Taman Sunter Indah, Tanjung Priok, expressed her appreciation for the joint personnel assisting with access to the church.
“We feel much safer and more comfortable during our worship. We thank the officers for managing the traffic and preventing congestion,” she remarked.
