Throughout 2025, the East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency installed 3,143 LED Single Street lamps across 10 sub-districts, covering all 65 urban villages in the municipality.

"Besides neighborhood roads and residential areas, LED lamps were also installed at places of worship—including mosques, churches, and temples—as well as urban village offices and other public facilities,” stated East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency Head, Benhard Hutajulu, Tuesday (12/23).

He explained that these installations ensure the streets are significantly brighter than before.

“We hope this initiative enhances the residents' sense of security and comfort, while simultaneously deterring potential nighttime crime,” he clarified.

According to Yanuar Ikhsan, Head of Urban Infrastructure and Public Street Lighting, over 90% of the 3,143 LED installations in East Jakarta were driven by resident proposals. In total, 2,875 were approved through regional development forums (Musrenbang and Rembuk RW).

As for the district-level data for the installations are: Pulo Gadung (454), Ciracas (419), Cakung (363), Cipayung (351), Pasar Rebo (328), Kramat Jati (279), Jatinegara (244), Duren Sawit (243), Makasar (107), and Matraman (87).

He added that 103 spots were fitted with 80-watt LED SS lamps at various public sites and houses of worship. Notable installations include the Jatinegara Kaum office and the At-Tauhid Mosque, Munjul Urban Village.

To support sidewalk revitalization efforts, personnel also installed 114 LED Single Street lamps type gendong along Jalan Raya Pondok Kelapa, Jalan Pahlawan Revolusi, and Jalan TMII Pintu 1.

"This type of lamp serves a dual function: providing 120-watt public street lighting and 80-watt pedestrian lighting. Additionally, 51 similar lamps were installed along Jalan RS Persahabatan and its surrounding areas, utilizing a combination of 80-watt and 120-watt LED SS lamps," he elaborated.

This lamp installation received appreciation from RT 06/02 Chairman, Cilangkap Urban Village, Unus.

"Thank you to the Bina Marga Agency. The streets are brighter, making our neighborhood feel much safer and more welcoming during the evening," he stated.
