South Jakarta Mayor Monitors Foodstuff Stability Ahead of Christmas and New Year

South Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar ensured the security and stock of foodstuff ahead of Christmas and New Year by visiting and checking foodstuff samples at Santa Market, Petogogan Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru District.

Anwar said this monitoring is important to ensure that the food consumed by the public is safe and free from hazardous materials and substances.

According to him, this activity involved South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency, together with BBPOM.

"We ensure food quality, supply availability and price stability," he said, Monday (12/22).

He explained that one sample of raw yellow noodles was found to contain dangerous substances.

"I already instructed the officer to check the distributor today to prevent wider distribution," he explained.

According to him, there is an increase for chicken from Rp 5,000 to Rp 8,000 per kilogram. The other commodities remain stable.

Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency, Ridho Sosro stated supervision and testing are carried out on various food products, including livestock, fisheries and agricultural products.

Supervision is focused on detecting food ingredients containing hazardous substances, such as Formalin, Borax, Methanyl Yellow, and Rhodamine B.

"We are also accompanied by food inspectors from the police. If any violations are found, they will be followed up according to applicable laws," he stated.

He added that the sub-agency has conducted monitoring and supervision at 28 markets both modern and traditional in 10 districts.
