Jakarta City Council Commission B Member, Wa Ode Herlina applauded Governor Pramono Anung’s initiative to engage Generation Z through a contest aimed at solving the capital's waste management and traffic woes.
To support Jakarta’s evolution into a global hub
According to her, this initiative represents a fresh breakthrough, as it engages youth creativity rather than relying solely on bureaucratic approaches.
"Chronic traffic jam and waste management issues are long-standing challenges that demand out-of-the-box solutions from a digital generation well-versed in AI and innovation," she expressed, Friday (12/19).
She assessed, visits to New York and Beijing are seen as relevant incentives to inspire Jakarta's youth to study advanced urban governance firsthand.
She endorsed Jakarta's move to strengthen the gig economy ecosystem as a platform for young talent, whom he described as the backbone of the evolving digital and creative industries.
With Jakarta accounting for 16.39 percent of the national GDP, she added that the sector’s growth is key to driving the nation’s overall economic performance.
"Hopefully, the contest will attract young innovators and strengthen public-private partnerships to support Jakarta’s evolution into a global hub," she hoped.
