Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung voiced his support for the development of the digital economy and youth creativity in Jakarta.
We extend our full support to this event
Pramono expressed his distinct pride that Jakarta has been entrusted to serve as a pilot project for urban program development in 2025. He conveyed this message while attending the launch of the gig economy training program for Gen Z and the soft launch of the AI Innovation Challenge at Jakarta Creative Hub, Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/18).
"We extend our full support to this event," he expressed.
As a concrete form of support for young innovators, the Jakarta government will hold a special contest for Generation Z to offer ideas and practical solutions to the capital's chronic problems.
"The contest calls for solutions to tackle waste or combat congestion, in the context of Jakarta as a global city," he explained.
This is a part of the festivities welcoming Jakarta's 500th Jubilee. To spur motivation, the Jakarta government will provide enticing rewards for the participants.
Further, he underscored the critical need for synergy between the central and regional governments, given that Jakarta accounts for 16.39 percent of the national GDP, with economic growth reaching 5.04 percent in the third quarter.
He further lauded the efforts of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto and Creative Economy Minister, Teuku Riefky Harsya to drive the gig economy—a sector that currently engages almost 2.5 million workers in Jakarta.
"I am certain that almost 2.5 million people are participating in the gig economy right now, as indicated by our latest figures," he continued.
He then highlighted Jakarta's bid to secure a spot in the top 50 global cities list by 2030, pressing for necessary backing and cooperation from the central government
Pramono even offered Jakarta's infrastructure readiness to support various national events, including facilitating the hosting of the National Sports Week (PON) 2028.
"Hopefully, initiatives such as this will bolster our country's economic stability. I am truly thankful, Mr. Minister," he uttered.
Notably, also in attendance were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto and Creative Economy Minister, Teuku Riefky Harsya.
