Jakarta City Council Commission D Chairwoman, Yuke Yurike extended her congratulations on the inauguration of Iin Mutmainnah as Mayor of West Jakarta. Iin officially succeeds Uus Kuswanto, who has been appointed as the Jakarta City Secretary
I am quite proud, especially as we approach Mother's Day
Yuke expressed her pride regarding the inauguration, particularly as it took place just ahead of the Mother's Day commemoration. The selection of Iin as a female mayor serves as a pleasant surprise.
"I am quite proud, especially as we approach Mother's Day. This is a delightful surprise because today’s inauguration includes the only current female mayor. Hence, we're certainly happy and proud, and we hope she will do women credit," she expressed, Thursday (12/18).
She hoped that Iin could execute her duties effectively and work in alignment with Jakarta Governor'd expectations. The challenges facing West Jakarta demand swift action and solid coordination.
"She also has to work fast considering the current situation and conditions, including the weather. Coordination must be swift. This inauguration process was conducted based on the merit system and through existing procedures," she added.
Then the Commission B Member, Muhammad Taufik Zoelkifli assessed, Iin's inauguration serves as proof that there are no gender issues in the capital city.
"She (Iin) has been appointed as mayor, and since 2008, she is the next female mayor. Previously, Sylviana Murni served as the Mayor of Central Jakarta. I believe this illustrates that there are no gender issues in Jakarta," he asserted.
This inauguration reflects the implementation of meritocracy under the Jakarta government
"If one performs well and possesses a strong merit record, they can achieve any position according to their capacity. However, we also demand that local government officials possess the integrity to make Jakarta better in the future," he explained.
He then hoped that she would be able to embrace all segments of the West Jakarta community in resolving various urban issues
"Women usually possess a softer and more communicative touch. Hope this can assist in dealing with the highly heterogeneous society of West Jakarta," he concluded.
